DRIVING TIPS FOR DIFFERENT WEATHER CONDITIONS

(Mobile 1 safety Driving Tips)
Congested traffic:

- drive slowly

- do not hit the clutch frequently because it wear ou prematurely.

Rain:

- drive at a conservative speed

- turn on the hazard lamps

- adjust the windshield wipers to the rain's intensity

- turn on the air-conditioner to prevent fogging

Flood:

- while drving through water on the road, do push the gas pedal constantly to avoid the car's engine being turned off, which occurs because the water gets inside the muffler.
- drive slowly to prevent crating waves of water.
- in order to see whether the car can get through the flood, use the muffler as a reference. If the muffler is higher than the water, then the car can pass through the water.

Night time:

- if drowsy, do not drive
- while turning, use the long lamp so the other car on the opposite side is aware of your position.
- avoid using the long lamp on a straight path in order not to obstruct the view of the drivers on the opposite side
- control your speed and keep safe distance between your car and the car in front
- in order to prevent fatigue, open the window and breath the fresh air from outside

GREEN OFFICE

Now let's check the office. A big part of greening your workplace involves cutting down on energy use and waste. You have probably noticed how computers, printers, faxes and so on consumed a lot of energy and create heat. This warms up the work space, which the air-con struggles to cool down while releasing heat outside the building. Make sure that these devices stay switched off when they are not in use, and use them as sparsely as you can. That's also applies to lighting. You can achieve significant savings by using Compact Fluorescent Lights (CFLs); this bulbs may cost more but they use about 20-25 % of the electricity of similar conventional lighting- over time, you're saving on your bills and reducing the quantity of stuff that ends up in Jakarta's bottomless landfills. On the supply side, you have plenty of option to reduce waste, such as: For workshop and seminars, reduce as much as possible the quantitiy of printed material and rely on electronic copies, flashdisks or CDs to share files. Cut down on packaging and waste in the office kitchen by introducing reusable dishware. Make notepads using scrap paper. Wherever possible, reuse envelopes and purchase envelopes with re-sealable lips, and space for multiple adresses, to extend their lifetime. Reuse folders and files. Bring your lunch in your own reusable packaging. The usual suspect in the office of course is your good ol' laser printer, which is probably churning out wads after wads of paper that are destined for a short and inglorious end in wastebin. It's been preached and clamored on the rooftops, but there's no saying it enough; to make your paper go further, use both sides of the sheet and disposeof it in a designated recycling bin. That paper works or paper waste can be mulched in and turn into new paper products. Now, for the final touch - some vegetation to top off your office's environment-concious rebirth. Sansevieria plants (Mother-in-law's tongue) will highlight your green credentials and wont strain your gardening skills; they are not particularly picky about how much water they receive, and they don't need much sunlight either. Your best bet for a good deal are the streetside flower sellers on Jl. Asia Africa in Central Jakarta. There, we're done for today. Before you close the door, make sure you switch off the lights.

EDUCATION ON GLOBAL WARMING

Global warming can be teached and educated with an approachable and entertaining design. No more talk and talk, it's time to act!. A cartoon exhibition can
informed global warming caused by human activities. Save energy to preserve environment. Campaigning global warming will educate ordinary people in simple
ways to preserve environment in daily life.

GLOBAL CHANGE, EMISSION PLAN

(taken from Reuters)

Projections by the UN Climate Panel indicate emissions by rich nations will have to fall by 25 percent to 40 percent below 1990 levels by 2020 to avert the worst
effects or more droughts, heatwaves, floods and rising seas, the most extreme curve.
The major economies account for 80 percent of world greenhouse gas emissions, topped by the United States and China, and are meant to work out ways
contribute to a new UN treaty to succeed the Kyoto Protocol beyond 2012.

GLOBALIZED RESPONSBILITY' MUST TO TACKLE CLIMATE CHANGE: UK

'( taken from: JP/ V. Anjaiah)
It's time for every country, rich and poor to focus on how to make the transition from being 'high carbon' to 'low carbon' economies, rather than just focusing on
money alone, said the British Government. They believes it more important to focus on oportunities rather than costs if we are to succesfully move toward
developing low carbon economies. It would be pointless to just think about the financial costs.
There are should not be any deadlines for climate change, similar to deadlines used in trade negotiations. It can't be done in climate change, because the
deadlines are set by the way in which the environment responds to stresses we're imposing on natural system, and we will pay an intolerable price if we get
that wrong.

INDONESIA: CLIMATE CHANGE TEAM YET TO BE FORMED

(newspaper Jakarta)

The goverment is unlikely to meets its deadline for establishing a special climate change comissiom because of cautiousness and tough negotiations.
The comission was originally scheduled to be set up by the end of April. Their responsbility will include monitoring the national action plan for fighting climate
change and teaching people to adapt to frequent changes in the weather. They also manage all funds earmarked for dealing with climate change, including
billion of dollars in grants expected from wealthy countries to help Indonesia reduce emissions.
The action plan was launched by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono while he was attending the climate change conference in Bali last December.
It is consist of steps to reduce green house gas emissions from the energy, agriculture, forestry, and fishery sectors. The comission would be a follow up to
the Bali conference.
There was a study showing parts of the capital, including Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, will become submerged due to rising sea levels caused
by climate change. Indonesia should have be able to export rice if there were no extreme weather changes this year.

GREEN PLANS, EDUCATIONAL FUN

(newspaper post)

It's cool to be green, show that people can help reduce global warming relates to everyone.
Greenhouse gases in the atmosphere has not only increase global temperatures, but also has directly causeed the spread of diseases. WHO estimated that
around two million people die of air pollution-related disease annually.
Some people believe global warming is not related to them, so now the for changing! we have to show how it is aplicable to them and what they can do in their
daily lives to reduce bad habits which can make the Earth condition became worse.
Start from small group, like our family, we can save energy and cut their carbon emissions, by doing simple acts, for example: switching off electronic devices,
decomposing rubbish, walking to the near by places-resting the car/motorbike, are helping reduce greenhouse gases.
We have to make greenliving a lifestyle. It will increase our quality of life. Planting trees in surounding area also can offset the carbon reduce from
car knalpot exhausted.

U.S. Climate Change

(taken from Agence France-Presse)

United States President George Walker Bush was announced his visions for fighting global climate change. The speech by BUsh, known for cozying up to
big energy-burning industries and opposing mandatory caps on carbon emissions as too costly to the economy, will layout goals for countering environmental
polution over the next 20-50 years. But, the leader of one of the world's top polluters was not expected to stray far from largely voluntary, pro-technology approach he has embraced in the past.
This speech talked about a strategy for a way forward and principles for dealing with the problem.

There was a meeting of the world's major polluters in Paris, the talks including identified long term and realistic intermediate goals for greenhouse gas emission.
Ensure all major economies like France, Germany, China and India play a role in any international agreement so as to avoid a future a Kyoto-like effect,
referred to the 1997 treaty which did not require require high-polluting-developing countries to reduce emission.
Former president Bill Clinton signed Kyoto but United States never ratified it and bush abandoned it in 2001, saying the binding restrictions on U.S. emissions
would prove to costly and harmful to U.S. ability to compete. The Republican president made no mention of the words "global warming" or "climate change"
in his first five State of the Union addresses.

Last year he acknowledged that climate change is a "serious challenge", a statement environmental groups welcomed as an important first step, but critics said
he could have gone further toward creating incentives for change. In the sunset of his White House tenure, clean energies have gained popularity amid fears
of permanent global damage from pollution, and pressure has mounted for Congress to pas federal legislation to limit the levels of emmissions.

In announced these goals he emphasized the importance of incentiveizing technologies as an effective way to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. There was a
bill sponsored by Republican Senator, would set a limit of on the level of carbon emissions and introduce economic incentives for cutting back on pollutants.
The Kyoto Protocol expires in 2012. On average it requires nations to reduce their emissions 5.2 percents below their 1990 level between 2008 and 2012.
This would represent a 29 percents cut in overall emissions compared to level expected by 2010.

Hello Green Fellows...

Issue of global warming comes blows after the International Conference which held in Bali-Indonesia on December 2007 result Bali Road Map.
Bali Road Map is declaration that each nations in this world must take actions to stop emission and be more aware about the impact of Global Warming.

We as world citizen can take part by doing more green activities, and more friendly to our environments. Start from little things, like separating organic and
non-organic waste from our domestic trash in house, will help reduce the emission. Or by recycle and reused seconhand things, like use more than once to
plastic bag, use paper on both side, etc.

These postings, articles, writings, are about loving care our Earth. What are the nations do, what will the countries do, and what we can do to make Earth stay green.
The Earth temperature is getting hot day by day, the ice pole in north and south are melting. Should we neglect this condition? NO
the answer is big NO NO..

Together we can make it happen, better green world. So this Earth can inherited to our children. Because we only have ONE Earth..
